Hair rigs for carp fishing

Hair rigs, or anti eject rigs are designed to fool the ever more cunning carp fished in UK waters. The idea behind them is that the fish will suck in the bait (usually a boilie, but other baits are becoming increasingly common), and move it to the back of it's mouth before it realises that there is a problem. By then it's too late as the hook is already at the front of it's mouth.

Hair rigs are available off the shelf and there are many rig-tiers around who will make them for you, but if you have braid, carp hooks, rolling swivels and some shrink tube, you can easily make your own. There are plenty of different ways to tie them, and it seems that every angler has his own method. New rigs are being developed all the time to stay one step ahead of the carp.
