Fly Fishing

Fly Fishing

Fly fishing is a totally different discipline to normal freshwater fishing. It's a common method of catching trout and salmon and involves the use of colourful, often handmade, fake flies. These are carefully crafted from various bird feathers and the visually appealing fly is then used as the bait. It's cast repeatedly on to the surface of the water to entice the fish to bite. As with carp and deep sea fishing, there are a whole range of specialist parts like hooks, swivels and line. Special fly rods and reels are also used.
